Not Soon Enough to Plan for Solheim 2009

The U.S. Team competing for the Solheim Cup in Halmstad, Sweden dominated the event to bring the prestigious trophy home, winning 16 to 12. Throughout the week-long golf event, which included the three actual days of competition and four days of practice, throngs of people tempered less-than-ideal weather to show their support for this growing international LPGA event.
Starting off with 5,000 in attendance during the first few days, the attendance skyrocketed to 36,000 the last two days of the competition. Even in extremely gusty rainy days, the fans came out. Back in town, thousands of people hit the streets of Halmstad looking for shopping, dining and recreational options.
Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove has won the bid to host the 2009 Solheim Cup (Aug. 17-23). Thousands of people, mostly from the U.S. with a 50-50 male-to-female ratio, will be looking to book rooms, dine, sightsee and shop while they are here for the week. Are you prepared?
The Solheim Cup is the most prestigious team event in women's professional golf. It is a biennial, trans-Atlantic team match-play competition featuring the best U.S.-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the best European-born players from the Robe di Kappa Ladies European Tour (LET). Many consider it the female equivalent to the Ryder Cup

PR Tip O' the Month: Optimize Your Releases

The basics of natural search optimization and press release optimization were established long ago. But as the industry continues to evolve, so does optimization - along with all the reasons why search engine marketers and communications professionals should still make press release optimization a priority.
Online news wires such as PRWeb, PRNewswire and BusinessWire have become a direct source for content, and act as press release search engines that may require some amount of optimization in order to be found. There is a substantial audience of journalists, bloggers and end-readers that rely on keyword-triggered alert systems to find news and press release content. Here are some tips for maximizing the exposure for your next press release:

* In the title headline, always include popular keywords and keyword phrases that correspond with the major theme of the release.
* Include popular keyword and keyword phrases in the release summary, or the secondary release heading.
* Reinforce the major keyword theme in the body of the release.
* Include the company URL in the first paragraph, after the company name.
* Use relevant keywords to describe the company at the end of the press release.
* Add relevant ancillary keywords to trigger the release via keyword alert services like Google, Yahoo Alerts, online news wires or any other keyword-based notification system.
* The Associated Press and Reuters are no longer the only news services in town. Targeting a press release for a publication like bizjournals.com can result in pickup in multiple local markets.

Trend Spotting

Mancations: Men are increasingly traveling in packs. Over 1/3 of men said they took a City Slicker-style vacation last year. On the flip side, half of all American women said they enjoyed a girlfriend getaway in the past three years .... and 90% said they want to.
Getting some Zzzz's: Offering plush beds and other creature comforts? There's a growing need for consumers to stop and simply catch up on sleep. Make sure to maximize the available revenue from the consumer by keeping them on site longer by highlighting lush linens and other creature-comfort amenities.
Rock On: Typical Americans hang up when they've been on hold for one minute-when there are no messages or music being played. It seems that only 13% hang up when music is offered and only 2% disconnect when they hear a spoken message.
