Fantastic Family Fun at the Hampton

Aurora’s Hampton Inn & Suites will once again host their fantastic family friendly New Year’s Eve celebration and package that puts a different spin on heralding in the New Year!
Are you a Flapper, Greaser, Rocker, Hippie, Disco Duck, Punker or Rapper? If so, the Hampton is putting on a bash to celebrate music through the ages. Feel free to dress up in the period of your
favorite music and come dance the night away.
In addition to dancing, expect dancing, costume contests, a DJ spinning a variety of music, drawings, a variety show and an 11 p.m. balloon drop for the kids that they will thoroughly love. Also included in the overnight package is a delicious dinner buffet, midnight pizza buffet, complimentary hot breakfast—you’ll be famished after dancing all night! There will be a full bar available for the adults and an ice cream bar for the children—no one is left out in this festivities. Don’t forget about the 6,000-square-foot indoor pool complex. Family Fun

Kick Off the New Year in Style
Walter Payton's Roundhouse, the 70,000-square-foot entertainment facility in historic Aurora, will be hosting a bevy of New Year’s Eve options to satiate anyone’s appetite for a good time. With 14 bars, a restaurant, the micro brewery, a piano bar, the open-air entertainment courtyard and the Walter Payton Museum, just walking in the door will ensure a good time; however, over at Payton’s they’ve slated a menu of different entertainment options. Laugh until it hurts with the Laf Pack—live in the ballroom which includes Johnny Burnett, the Midnight Swinger and Tom Walkoe—and includes dinner.
DJ Joey B will also be spinning all your favorites and in the main dining room there will be a special New Year’s Eve dinner menu. Visit walterpaytonsroundhouse.com and go to the calendar for more
information.

Trendspotting

Biking vacations attracted more than 27 million travelers in the past five years and they rank as the third most popular outdoor vacation activity in America, (following camping and hiking). People
who take biking trips tend to be young and affluent—a prime target audience.
About half are between the ages of 18 and 34 and one-fourth are from households with an annual income of $75,000 or more. More than 80% of biking travelers took a camping trip in the past five years and 72% took hiking trips in the past five years. With more than 36 miles of biking and hiking trails, the Aurora Area is a perfect fit for this niche travel market.

Travel Media Showcase Update
Our fifth year showcasing a booth at the Travel Media Showcase was our most successful year ever. Garnering 33 appointments this year—the max allotted—we secured the most appointments the Aurora Area CVB has ever with the pool of national freelancers.
One of the writers we spoke with was the keynote speaker to the 2008 Illinois Governor’s Conference in Springfield and one of the California-based writers agreed to visit the Aurora Area in late June early July. Our PR Director was interviewed by a St. Louis radio station show host and extolled our great hotels, fantastic attractions and incredible events. The interview is slated to air in January.
